STX OSV has secured a new contract for the design and construction of one offshore subsea construction vessel for Solstad Offshore. The value of the contract is approximately $109 million (NOK 600 million).
The vessel will be of STX OSV's OSCV 03 design, and will be equipped with a 250 tonne crane and accommodation capacity for 100 people. The overall length of the vessel will be around 367 feet (121 meters), with a beam of 76 feet (23 meters).
Delivery is scheduled from STX OSV Aukra in Norway in 2Q 2014. The hull will be delivered from STX OSV Tulcea in Romania.
DOF says it has entered into three long term charter contracts with ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS for operation in the Norwegian Sector. The contracts will commence 4Q 2012, with a firm period for each contract of 7 years. ConocoPhillips has an option to extend the contracts.
To serve these contracts DOF has entered into three new building contracts with STX OSV AS for construction of three vessels of design respectively STX MRV 05, STX MRV 05 ROV and STX MRV 05 SP.
The vessels will primarily be employed in supply service, stand by service, ROV operations and seismic activities.
STX OSV Standardises Its Engineering and 3D Design Work on AVEVA Marine
The STX OSV shipyards that will implement AVEVA Marine are:
Romania – Tulcea and Braila
Brazil – Niteroi and Suape (new yard under construction)
Vietnam – Vung Tau
Norway -Aukra, Brattvaag, Brevik, Langsten and Søviknes.
In addition to engineering activity at the yards, STX OSV has engineering offices in Norway, Romania and Croatia.
AVEVA Marine is a set of integrated applications created specifically for the unique processes of the engineering and design of ship and offshore structures, design management and the generation of accurate production information.
Varda Engineering Ålesund is a newly created department that will perform work for our shipbuilding activities at home and abroad. This will be done in close cooperation with shipyards their local technical departments and our design department in Ålesund. The center will be part of an overall engineering resource of more than 700 employees from various locations within the group. Allevard using modern computing tools where most of the aircraft are modeled in 3D software AVEVA Marine. 3D instrument training will be provided.
